You can easily set up a schedule of recurring pickup/drop-in/open play events, on OpenSports. And we mean… EASILY!
Note: As of June 2021, you can only set up recurring events through the web. Of course, once the events are created, they can be viewed, edited, and joined through the app and web.
Welcome to OpenSports Leagues/Tournaments!
This system was dreamed of many years ago, and we started to develop it in mid-to-late 2019. To see our hard work come to fruition, and to have it in your hands now, is incredibly rewarding. Let’s create a league!
This article is the first part of a two-part tutorial to help you get started with OpenSports leagues.
In this article, we’ll walk you step-by-step through (i) creating your first league. In the next tutorial, we will walk you through (ii) creating and publishing a round robin schedule.
Let’s get started!
You can now add a tag for every event and have the memberships you sell apply to only events with that tag!
This allows you to limit a membership to specific activities, or specific sets of activities, very easily. It works on the web and will be coming to the app in a few days.
If you are a group that mixes what types of events you offer — let’s say pickup games, tournaments, and virtual games; or morning, afternoon, and evening games— you can have a unique membership for those different categories of events. …
Note to readers: This article should not be treated as medical or expert advice to participate in, or host any activity. Always consult the most up-to-date recommendations of federal, state and local public health officials. Please continue to modify your programming as your local and state regulations change.

As sports organizers continue to brainstorm safe ways to return to league play, we at OpenSports have seen three interesting models at play, described below. If you’re looking for a quick guide on how to set up Adult pods or Youth pods on OpenSports, read here.
First are pods…
Many organizers love being able to view, at a glance, who is a brand new attendee at their events! This can be helpful to know, because they may need more instruction or guidance… or perhaps just some extra kindness! It’s easy to do this through the Manage Users or the Check-in tools.
While checking players in, you (or whomever is hosting the event) can view a list of all attendees and see if they are tagged with the new attendee tag. This indicates it’s their very first time registered for an event within your group.
If you want to allow your captains/co-hosts/co-admins/field managers to play for free, there is a very easy way to automatically set that up!
Go to the discount creator tool and set up the discount > toggle on “Specify eligible users” > tap the “Add User” button > type in the name of the group member who you’d like the discount to apply to and tap on Select when their name comes up > Exit the screen, and if you’d like to add more members to this discount, tap on “Add user” again!
